Club captain Paul Hilton sends in this reminder

This Tuesday evening (21st June) is the 3rd in our Jesmond Dene “Summer Series” GP.

Tony Carter won the 1st race setting the standard with the quickest time set in the series so far of 10.35 for the accurate 2 mile distance.. Then in the 2nd series Marc Fenwick just managed to pip Chris Thompson and his sister Joy Fenwick to cross the line 1st.

These Summer Series are a “handicap” system were the slower runners are set of 1st and the quicker runners go off after them. If we get it right then it should be a blanket finish! The winner of this race (as did Marc in the last) will be rewarded by automatic and free entry into the Morpeth 10k in August, which is also acting as our very first club championships.

Can I urge all TBH to attend on Tues to support/marshal or more importantly race. Meet normaly at Byker East End Pool and we will warm up by jogging to the start at Armstrong Bridge, Jesmond. Alternatively meet at Armstrong Bridge at 6.45 and the actual race starts at 7pm.The overall standings for the series will be calculated after this 3rd race.

  1. Great event superbly set up by Paul Hilton, urge as many people to get along and remember it is handicapped so anyone can win, just be aware of the hill right at the end.
