Well done to the 10 Tyne Bridge Harriers athletes who turned up at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday morning to represent the club & take part in the free 5K timed race. This particular event also marked the very first of 6 races in the TBH Winter parkrun GP Series.
In the field of 225 runners, Tyne Bridge Harriers had 5 athletes finish in the Top 20.
Sparrow Morley was delighted to dip under the 17 min barrier that he has been training hard to achieve. The training has paid off and ‘Mo Sparra’ recorded a new PB of 16:55 flying across the line in 2nd place.
The unstoppable Dave ‘Apples’ Appleby finished in 4th position. Dave was 1st in his age category and scored a very impressive 80.65% age grading.
Our resident Doc Dan ‘The Scan’ Birchall also recorded a superb new PB knocking a massive 23 seconds off his previous 5K best to run well under the 19 minute mark, crossing the line in 18:45 in 11th position.
John ‘JH’ Hurse continues his top form and put in a very solid run around the course finishing in 16th place with a time of 18:53
Our Ultra Runner and ‘Flying Scotsman’ Rob Wishart was still feeling the weeks training and the Hardmoors 60 in his legs but still managed to record and very respectable 19:17 finishing in 19th position.
Mention must go once again to Graham King who took 1st place in his VM55-59 Age category.
All age grades from the races get converted into points for the Winter parkrun Series and the person with the most points after 6 races will be crowned* Winter parkrun CHAMP
Well done to everyone who took part in this event
