We had 25 Tyne Bridge Harriers attending & representing the club at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday for the 112th running of the FREE weekly 5k timed event.

This was the first time for the new and officially measured course to be used. Newcastle parkrun is now an official and accurate 5k and has been measured by UKA, so therefore now counts toward your UKA rankings.

The 112th newcastle parkrun was also the 6th & final race in the Tyne Bridge Harriers parkrun Grand Prix and the final table of results & the winner of the series will be published soon.

Congratulations to Shaun Brown, Imran Mohammed, Denise Waugh, Jude Smith, Kate Meek, Danielle Rutherford & Diane Pringle who all recorded brand new PB’s.

Conditions were far from perfect with blustery winds circling The Moor (the usual then!) plus the course including an extra 40 mtrs meant that the field of 342 runners taking part had to work that extra bit harder to achieve any Personal Bests.

The 5k was won by Luke Adams from South Shields Harriers & AC in 16:21 & the first female home was Alison Dargie from Elswick Harriers in 18:56

  1. Well done everybody, Shaun Brown has knocked over a minute off his time in a month. Diane Pringle has got the bit between her teeth. Excellent running. My advice is don’t do parkrun every week but alternate it between track sessions and get cross country races and other events in as well. A wee trip to Albert Park Parkrun is also well worth a visit.

Bearing in mind the wind that everybody had to fight against yesterday it was an amazing day out for the club with everybody running so well

  2. Congratulations to Sparrow Morley, who recorded a PB of 16m 18s around the Albert Park (Middlesbrough) course.

  3. Good show team, keep those times coming down and down! Lead home by the class act of Dave Appleby, I think he’ll still be posting those times when he reaches 50!
