Unbelievable. There’s no other word for it. The weather that greeted Newcastle parkrunners on Saturday was unbelievable. It was sunny, warm and a lot like a what a typical summer’s day should be like. Whatever next I ask.

11 members finished the 5k run, with David Appleby first finisher for the club in a time of 18m 44s.

But despite Dave being the leading runner, it was the female contingent that finished with the bragging rights, as 3 of the ladies recorded PB’s. First up was Megan Parkin, who reduced her PB by 36 seconds (23:00 to 22:24) in a space of a week. Next up was Victoria Waugh, who’s run of 23:43 was an incredible 58 seconds quicker than her previous best. Finally, having made her debut the week earlier, Alison Smith knocked off 28 seconds from her time. Congratulations to all 3 ladies

  1. I think closer scrutiny of the results is required, I distinctly remember a certain Double D passing me at about 2k and then disappearing into the distance never to be seen again. It looks like he has gone all incognito on us as it isn’t recorded as TBH. Stewards enquiry needed, me thinks.
