Northern Frontrunners are organising Newcastle’s first Gay 5k run in Exhibition Park on Friday 20th July 2012 at 6.45pm. This race is open to all who support the belief that sport should be equally accessible to everyone in society.
Northern Frontrunners was formed in 2011 to promote and encourage the participation in healthy recreation by providing facilities for athletics to individuals who identify with the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (lgbt) communities. They are part of a network of lgbt running clubs across the UK.
TBH would like to encourage our members to participate in this race on a flat, fast course – first of all because it will be a good evening of running – and secondly to promote TBH’s profile as the North East’s newest dynamic, diverse and enthusiastic running club!
It’s £10 to enter and prizes are on offer for the first three finishers and to the best fancy dress – which by the sound of some chat on facebook recently may appeal to quite a few TBH members…
More information, course details and entry form can be found on the Northern Frontrunners website: http://www.northernfrontrunners.co.uk/
Let’s see a good turnout of black & white vests!
Editor’s note: Good luck to Colin who is off to Finland this weekend, and is running the Paavo Nurmi Marathon while over there on the 30th.

Good luck in Finland Colin, bet it is not a patch on Glenelg
As the race is on a Friday evening, I propose that we run it, bag a load of PBs, hopefully some prize money and follow it up with a social. Does that sound like a plan?
Did someone mention a on?!?!?
that should be a PB!!
£10, seems a lot to pay if there is only prizes for the first 3 runners! No thanks.
Also Park Runs are on every Saturday Morning and they are 5k and free of charge so this race wont fit into my schedule either.
I’m signed up. Not sure how many are taking part. The £10 includes a contribution to a youth charity which may explain why it is pricey for a short run. I’ve never made it to a Park Run yet (too early on a Saturday morning for me!) so a run late on a Friday is good for me and it’s near my work at the RVI. Not planning on any pbs after the Dirty 30 at Lochalsh, the Paavo Nurmi Marathon and then the fantasticaly fun Saltwell Harriers Fell Race up at Stanhope the other night.
