Well done to everyone who turned out for the 2012 Hexhamshire Hobble fell race.

It’s amazing the effect two simple words such as ‘tea’ and ‘cakes’ will have on runners, as over a dozen members travelled over to Allendale Town for this annual 10.4 Mile race.

Congratulations must go to David Beech, who finished 3rd overall (2nd Senior Man), David Daniels (2nd V40 Man), and the quartet of David Beech, Paul Turnbull, David Daniels and Mark Hall, who collected the Men’s Team prize. (N.B. Louis Goffe, Gareth Huxley and John Tollitt ran in their Northumberland Fell Running club colours).

Despite a couple of members suffering cuts and grazes, it was laughs all round following the race as members tucked into the mountain of home-made cakes and regaled how they slipped and slid around the icy course.

If anyone is interested in experiencing fell running, the next local event is the Simonside Cairns race on Sunday, 9th December. More information about the race can be found here

A full report can be found here and hopefully a few photos will appear soon (and if there’s any of me sliding on my backside, then I’m going to go into a huff :-) )
