A big hearty well done to David Beech, David Daniels, James Knox, Sparrow Morley and Stephanie McFarlane for completing this year’s Guisborough Woods Fell Race. Not only did they have a challenging course to contend with, but a chilly easterly wind meant they couldn’t stand around for too long for fear of freezing to death.
The recent poor weather meant a change to the usual course, with runners having to navigate a small first lap of approximately 3 miles, followed by a slightly longer second lap of approximately 4 miles (see here). Sadly for the runners, the revised course still included a vicious ascent on each lap which reduced the majority of runners to walking pace as they made their way to the top, as shown below.
David Beech finished in 12th place overall (9th Senior Male), so many congratulations to David.
But as with all fell races, once it’s over – and the runners are back at race HQ having a hot drink (or possibly something stronger ) – it’s smiles all around as they regale the high and low points of the race and take satisfaction from finishing a challenging event.

I think did a 3 mile run, followed by a 4mile walk… haha
Great write up David! You’ll have to roll in some camera pose training for our future training runs
