Middlesbrough Tees Pride 10K – 8th September 2013
One of the drawbacks to participating in a event is missing the closing stages of the race, and by all accounts this year’s Tees Pride 10k race was an absolute corker.
Just one second separated the top 3 finishers, with man-of-the-moment Tadele Mulugeta (Elswick Harriers) claiming victory against fellow Ethiopian countrymen Yarod Hagos (Wallsend) and Wondiye Fikre Indelbu (Unatt) by the narrowest of margins.
Tadele and Yarod were both given a chip time of 30:30, with Wondiye clocking 30:31.
Rosie Smith, of Durham City Harriers, had a slightly easier affair in the Ladies race, producing another excellent performance (33:49) and winning the event by several minutes.
As for Tyne Bridge Harriers, it was a day of personal glory rather than team glory, with several members smashing their 10k PB times.
First finisher for the club was TC (Tony Carter), his PB of 33:31 good enough to claim 12th position overall.
Next up was Shaun Brown, setting a new PB of 33:52 (19th), closely followed by Keith Smith (34:04 PB, 22nd and 1st V50) with James Dunce completing the quartet of members finishing under 36 minutes. James’ time of 35:17 was also a PB, knocking off almost a minute from his previous best.
Also representing the club with honour were Nick Varley (40:24 PB), Nick Pearson (41:17 PB), Keith Rooney (41:29 PB), Graham King (42:32), Kevin Cheetham (48:09), Natalie Ohlson (48:41 PB) and Lizzy Clamp (50:04).
Many congratulations to the PB’ers and well done to the rest of the TBH squad.
The race itself was a fantastic affair, with glorious weather making for ideal running conditions and the support from local residents creating a fabulous atmosphere. Even though a couple of niggles meant a steady run for myself, it was nevertheless a joy to take part and I’d recommend this event to all members.

Well done everyone, super PBs
Wow – great running guys and gals. Sounds like the Tee’s course is the one to go to. Well done all round.
P.s. I assume we’ve sent Wondiye an application form?
