With attention focused on Saturday’s Cross Country relays at Farringdon and Sunday’s Tees Pride 10k, there were a couple of weekend races that went un-noticed.
Well, almost un-noticed.
On Saturday afternoon, whilst the club’s juniors, Seniors and Veterans were doing their best around the undulating Farringdon course, two of the club’s Golden Oldies were doing their best around the pan flat track at Monkton Stadium (Jarrow) in the 2013 VAANEE 5K & 10K Track Championships.
Lisa Walker was the club’s sole representative in the 5k race, finishing 2nd in the F40 age category with a time of 23:58.
In the 10k race, Micky Baker‘s time of 45:11 was enough to earn him 3rd place in the M50 age category.
Congratulations to Lisa and Micky.
The following day, in the beautiful north-east countryside, four members took part in the Run Northumberland Matfen running festival, with Michael Nemeth (47:15), Claire Norman (57:38 PB ) and Sara Sedgley (64:37) participating in the 10k race and Rob Kirtley opting for the shorter 5k race, finishing in a superb 4th place, with a time of 19:02.
Well done all.
