With East End Pool closed for the holiday period, there will be no training sessions this week.
However, if you still need a run to satisfy your fix then there are a couple of events I can heartily recommend.
On Christmas Day, several parkrun‘s are taking place across the region. Those going ahead (weather permitting) are Newcastle, Gateshead, Darlington (South Park) and Middlesbrough (Albert Park).
As usual, all events begin at 9:00am and barcodes are required.
If you’re able to move after gorging yourself during Christmas Day then what better way to burn off those calories than by a brisk run along the seafront. The Woodlawn Xmas Pudding Fun Run is an annual event organised by North Shields Poly running club in aid of Woodlawn School. The run is 3 1/4 miles long, starting and finishing at The War Memorial (opposite the Spanish City) and costs £7 for adults and £3 for under 16’s.
All finishers receive a Christmas Pudding and a certificate. Further information can be found here.
Please note, this is a fun run in support of a local school and results aren’t always available.
To round off the week, there’s a terrific fell race in the North York Moors on Friday morning. The Guisborough Woods is 5 1/2 Miles and a great test of strength and endurance. Entry is £7 (entries on the day) and the race starts at 11am from Guisborough Rugby Club. Click here for further information.
Merry Christmas folks
