Saltwell 10k Road Race: Saturday 21st December 2013

Just days after collecting the TBH Rising Star of the Year, it appears Shaun Brown is on a mission to win next year’s Athlete of the Year by posting a fantastic result at the Saltwell 10k RR.

Shaun ran a great tactical race, steadily moving through the field from 10th at the end of the 1st lap to eventually finish in a terrific 3rd position.

Joining Shaun in collecting an early Christmas present were Sparrow Morley and James Dunce – the trio winning the Men’s Team prize – and Lucy Matheson who was awarded the 1st Female V40 prize.

Well done to everyone who took part in the event, many of whom ran a course PB in spite of the wet and breezy conditions, and congratulations to race winners Tadele Geremew (Elswick Harriers) and Alyson Dixon (Sunderland Strollers).

  1. Great running from all at TBH , special congrats to Shaun who goes from strength to strength and another team win is something to shout about.
The worrying aspect of this report and photos is the alarming shrinkage that DD appears to have suffered since his injury. Hope it’s not a long term problem DD

    • it’s the weight of expectation I carry at races watching fellow members

unfortunately, the growth around my mid-riff is an entirely different matter #toomuchchocolateandnotenoughexercise

      • Well done TBH, again especially Shaun. Thanks as always to the supporters whom really help to put a spring in the step on an otherwise distinctively un spring like day. I think I was actually 3rd V40 but still really happy as the course nearly killed me. Was the whisky good Lindsay?!

        • I’ve got an envelope stuffed full of cash for 1st V40 Female but if you don’t want it then I’m sure it’ll come it handy down the pub. I’ve also got your gloves Lucy. If anyone wants to make me an offer for them ;-)

        • Ha ha….whiskey was def needed to warm up…but was purely for show ;-) …well done Lucy , normally I’d say take the money n run….but u’ve already run so spend spend spend x x
