Wrekenton, 22nd March 2014
After another fantastic day of cross-country racing, including a surprise result in the Senior Men’s event, the major honours for 2013/14 went to;
Senior Women Division 1: Gateshead Harriers
Senior Women Division 2: Birtley AC
U17 Girls/U20 Women: Durham City
U15 Girls: Jarrow & Hebburn
U13 Girls: Tynedale Harriers
Senior Men Division 1: Durham City
Senior Men Division 2: Heaton Harriers
Senior Men Division 3: Blackhill Bounders
U17 Boys: Tynedale Harriers
U15 Boys: Durham City
U13 Boys: Morpeth Harriers
Huge congratulations to all of the above winners, especially Durham City who pulled off a terrific victory in the Senior Men’s Championship, beating pre-race favourites Morpeth Harriers and our very own Tyne Bridge Harriers to the title. Five 2nd place finishes and one 3rd place showcase their consistently high level of performance throughout the season and they deservedly came out on top.
Overall, Tyne Bridge had a season to reflect back fondly on. The women finished 5th in Division 1, consolidating their place amongst the best clubs in the region, and the men finished a highly respectably 2nd place (behind Durham), which considering this was their first season in Division 1 is some achievement. Every member that competed for the club, whether for the men or the women, should be tremendously proud of themselves.
Full results from Wrekenton II can be found here and the final league tables here.
Special mention to Eve Helm (U13 Girls) and Izzy Knox (Senior Women) who both picked up a bronze medal in their respective races. Congratulations ladies
