Now the cross country season has come to an end it is time to start thinking about getting some speed into those legs for the summer of road racing ahead.
One theory for how to make yourself a faster runner is that if you can increase your basic speed over shorter distances then this in turn improves your times over longer distances.
The TBH Golden Mile is a challenge to target improving speed and make you a stronger runner.
Club coaches have put together a 6-week track schedule – starting tomorrow, Saturday 29th March and taking place every subsequent Saturday – designed to build on all the strength gained over the winter cross-country season and develop that top end speed.
The sessions will comprise of running drills, plyometrics and a series of progressive runs designed to peak for the Golden Mile final which will take place Saturday, 10th May.
Runners of all abilities are welcome from Groups 1-5 and everyone is guaranteed to feel the benefit.
There is no need to sign up, just be at Churchill Playing Fields (Track), Whitley Bay, at 11am to take part.
