It’s now only one week to the third running of the Race Day Bridges of the Tyne 5 Mile Road Race. Thank you for entering this year’s race, the demand for places was unprecedented, with the 400 places available sold out in just over 30 hours. We have now closed the race for transfers.

Just to confirm a few points for this year’s race.

Timing Results

Results will be based on the gun time in all categories. For the team prizes, Masters/Vets can only count in Masters/Vets teams.

Race Start

The race start is located on the Quayside footpath to the west of the Millennium Bridge, it is approximately half a mile from the race HQ at the Tyne Bar so please make sure you allow plenty time to make it to the start line for 19:15. The race HQ will be open from 17:30 for race pack collection.

Course

The course is an out and back route. This year we have had to make a slight adjustment to the course at approximately 2.5 miles. Due to the removal of the steps that were at the bottom of the ramp of the BA car park, runners now need to bear right at the bottom of the ramp and re-enter the Quayside path from the car park. It is at this point that the course is at its narrowest so caution and extra vigilance will be needed. We will have plenty marshals at this point but please take care. The course is on public footpaths and cycle ways so please be mindful of other users and please listen to the instructions from the marshals.

Presentations

The presentation of prizes will take place at the Tyne Bar from approximately 20:30. We hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us and enjoy the barbeque and post-race refreshments.
