January 18th is a landmark date for Tyne Bridge Harriers as this was the date, back in 2011, the club held its first ever training session.
There were just 14 runners in attendance at the Tuesday evening session, all of whom can be seen in the photograph below.
As with all great things, it started with those four immortal words, “I’ve got an idea” (quickly followed by, “why don’t we set up a running club”).
Four years along the line, with the club membership now approaching 400 members, Tyne Bridge Harriers continues to go from strength to strength.
It’ll be churlish to say it’s the best club in the area, or the biggest, or the friendliest etc., but I can say – hand on heart – I’m immensely proud of how the club has developed and I still get a thrill pulling on the black and white TBH vest.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TYNE BRIDGE
Below are some of my favourite photographs since 2011, including past and present members.
