Hello TBH!

The track season is now upon us and the first Track and Field Masters league fixture is on Monday, 16th May at Monkton Stadium (Jarrow). For those new to running, the Masters league is for athletes 35 years and over.

If you are not a member of the North East Masters Athletics Association (NEMAA) and wish to compete, please go onto the NEMAA website and download a form. It costs £10 to join but this fee is refunded by TBH upon participating in your first Masters track fixture. NEMAA membership also allows you to compete in numerous road, cross-country and track championships at Masters level regionally and nationally.

The Track and Field league is spread over 6 fixtures, all of which are held at Monkton Stadium (Jarrow). Dates and fixture timetables can be found further down this article.

In the Monday night fixtures athletes can compete in up to 3 events per night, all for £3. So come on, sign up for your maximum events (run, jumps and throws), the field events are where the points are! Many of our girls turned up last year having never thrown or jumped before, got a quick lesson beforehand and did brilliantly. The key to winning the league is covering all events and doing 3 each. So if you are not keen to do field event or a sprint, use it as a warm up for your preferred event.

Please see the NEMAA website for further information regarding individual age group series winners. The athlete, in each gender & age group, with the most points in the separate sprints, distance, throws and jumps competitions at the end of the season will also win an award/medal….so an opportunity for individual as well as team glory.

The first fixture is Monday 16th May and the event time-table is;
6.30pm Discus (A), Shot (B)
7.00pm 100m
7.15pm 3000m
7.30pm Long Jump, Shot (A), Discus (B)
8.00pm HIgh Jump & 400m

Club vests must be worn during competition and the number you receive at a fixture remain’s yours for the whole season – so don’t lose it.

So come on sign up, build on your personal bests but most of all have fun!!!
Got to be in it to win it!

For further information please don’t hesitate to contact me.
