Races are usually defined by how quickly we run, and whether or not we achieve that all important Personal Best.
But sometimes, depending upon personal circumstances, just making it to the start or finish line of a race may be a far greater achievement.
In the case of April’s TBH Member of the Month, their achievement was overcoming the very worst conditions mother nature could throw at them and completing a marathon ordeal.
The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon and is one of six World Marathon Majors. It is also considered to be one of the more difficult marathon courses because of a range of ‘hills’ between miles 16 and 21.
To make matters worse, this years event – Monday, 16th April – was treated to some of the worst weather conditions in it’s history, with competitors confronted with strong headwinds, torrential downpours and bitterly cold temperatures.
For not only showing a remarkable level of grit and determination by finishing the race in horrific conditions, but also in a terrific time of 3:29, April’s MotM is MAIRI CLANCY
Congratulation Mairi
