Claire Whitelaw’s report covered the individual results and efforts on the day and summed up the whole trip very well. The only thing I wanted to add was just to sum up the Team efforts, as it may not be clear to everyone how well the club fared at this National competition.
Our under 13 girls’ team were 36th and the only Northeast club to close a team of 4.
The under 13 boys were 33rd and again, the only Northeast club to close a team.
The under 15 boys’ team were 42nd and yet again, the only Northeast club to close a team
The senior ladies were 42nd overall, but the first Northeast club. The next Northeast club was the new outfit, North East Project who were 89th. The only other Northeast clubs to close ladies Teams were Low Fell (91st), Wallsend (100th) and Blyth (102nd).
Finally, the Senior men, with many of the usual cross-country specialists missing from the TBH line-up, managed a very respectable 88th for 3rd Northeast club. Special mention goes to coach Katy who was 206th out of more than a thousand ladies.
I must thank Rachael Perowne and Ian Pickett again for the fantastic organisation that went into making this trip a very memorable weekend away. Next year, the Nationals should be back up North. Although we will not be making a weekend of it, it will still be a fantastic experience and one I would highly recommend juniors that are old enough, give a go, as it is something they will remember for years to come.
