Dave Moir has stayed up especially late tonight to type up and send in this report from todays Saltwell 10K
Saturday the 10th of December 2011 heralded the North East County Championships, one of the biggest club races in the calendar. Tyne Bridge Harriers in its inaugural year were, as usual, well represented and they had their new flag flew majestically amongst the other club flags & the embattlement of tents at the race venue.
Tyne Bridge Harrier Alan Wallace was out on the Fells today and sends us this report from Simonside.
Catherine Amos sends this report direct from her race on the ‘West Coast’ today. After an early start and a fuelling up with coco pops, I was feeling more and more apprehensive about the race, the closer we got to Carlisle. I never enjoy the start of races and felt ill prepared...
On a chilly evening down by the River Tyne, a magnificent 37 members turned up to compete in the second race of this year's Winter Grand Prix Series. However, unlike the first contest which was a straight race, tonight's race brought the handicap system in use.
10 Club Athletes represented Tyne Bridge Harriers on Saturday morning on the Town Moor / Exhibition Park, for the 96th running of Newcastle parkrun. The course had been changed to accommodate safety measures due to the increasing number of runners that are taking part. The new route is considered to be faster too. 261 runners waited at the line for the 09:00 start.
Saturday 5th November marked the 2nd race in the Tyne Bridge Harriers Winter GP Race 2011. We had 7 athletes taking part in this event.
Phil Brown has posted this excellent report from the Lancaster Half on Sunday. Three months ago, my mate Mark had asked me if I fancied doing the Lancaster Half Marathon with him in November. Since our last race (my first) back in March, we needed another challenge to keep us motivated, so we signed up and started training again.
Our ‘Flying Doctor’ Dan ‘The Scan’ Birchall sends in this report from Sundays Gibside Fruitbowl Trail Race. The Gibside Fruit Bowl is a 6 mile trail race that takes place every autumn at the Gibside Estate
Jude Smith has sent in this excellent report from the Ladies Team from Farringdon. Having missed the Relays in September, this was my first visit to Farringdon, but I’d heard a lot of tales about ‘the hill’ and ‘the stream’ from more experienced runners.
A few months ago, me and a couple of friends decided that running the Snowdonia Marathon was a good idea. I’d ran the race once before and swore at the finish line never to run it again. Anyway almost four years down the line I found myself back at the start line. My preparation for the race had been great and although I felt like I was carrying a little extra timber, I knew I was running well.
The tone for the day was set for TBH by the time the under 11 boys race set off. Our rising star, Leodhais Macpherson was turned away from the start by an official as he had just celebrated his 11th birthday. It was unclear whether or not he was permitted to run with the under 11s,
Mr Moir sends in this report 'fresh' from the field of the Newcastle Town Moor Marathon. The idea of a 5 lap marathon puts many people off this marathon, but not 4 hardy TBH-ers. People often consider it to be an easy but boring course, but I’ve always found it to be a bit trickier than just that.
Tyne Bridge Harriers‘ very own Tony ‘TC’ Carter was the first Brit to cross the line at the Venice City Marathon at the weekend. He reports back from his ‘Epic Win’ at the VCM
Saturday the 22nd of October 2011 heralded the Scottish Cross Country Relay Championships at Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire. So while my fellow Tyne Bridge Harriers were making a name for themselves in far flung places like Venice and South Shields I was up in Scotland running for Cambuslang.
Well done to the 5 gents who represented Tyne Bridge Harriers on Saturday by putting in some solid performances.
Despite the ghastly weather conditions and a last minute change to the route (who knew the Swing Bridge was still in operation?), there were some magnificent performances in the first race of the Winter Grand Prix.
After failing to make it to the start line of Edinburgh Marathon earlier this year through injury, I was hit with jealousy to see everyone setting off from the start line when I went up in May to support 2 friends and fellow TBH runners taking part in the event.
