Tyne Bridge Harriers‘ very own Tony ‘TC’ Carter was the first Brit to cross the line at the Venice City Marathon at the weekend. He reports back from his ‘Epic Win’ at the VCM
Well done to the 5 gents who represented Tyne Bridge Harriers on Saturday by putting in some solid performances.
Despite the ghastly weather conditions and a last minute change to the route (who knew the Swing Bridge was still in operation?), there were some magnificent performances in the first race of the Winter Grand Prix.
After failing to make it to the start line of Edinburgh Marathon earlier this year through injury, I was hit with jealousy to see everyone setting off from the start line when I went up in May to support 2 friends and fellow TBH runners taking part in the event.
Tyne Bridge Harriers had 10 athletes taking part in the weekly FREE timed event at Newcastle Town Moor on Saturday. Conditions were absolutely superb as 09:00 came and the starter got the 92nd race underway.
The Kielder Marathon was my first run as a Tyne Bridge Harrier, and this is my inaugural race report. It was an eventful day, but I will keep it short. After I learned that Elspeth Lawson, the other Tyne Bridge Harrier at the start, was taking the fun bus from Newcastle,
There was a slightly reduced field out at Newcastle parkrun […]
Never in the history of the North-East Harrier League has a club in Division Three won, outright, the team competition. Until now that is… We did it! With many of our fastest runners unavailable, the men won the team competition, beating Gateshead by only 4 points. Every place gained over the six miles counted towards this historic victory.
By mistake I entered the GER 2011 thinking it would be ages after the Great North Run as it was in a different month. My mistake. The 14 days flew by and, without much in the way of training in the meantime, I headed north across the border for this 10k feeling a little under prepared.
We’d both ran this race in 2010 so knew what was in store but for some reason my recollection was of a much flatter course? We set off with race plans in hand, and pretty soon I realised we may struggle to stick to it. I remembered the first 3 miles were a bit up and down so had allowed for that, but was intending to make time up on mile 4.
Well done to the 10 Tyne Bridge Harriers athletes who turned up at Newcastle parkrun on Saturday morning to represent the club & take part in the free 5K timed race. This particular event also marked the very first of 6 races in the TBH Winter parkrun GP Series.
Tyne Bridge Harriers have all sorts of runners at the club.. there are those that prefer the short 5k blast around the Town Moor, there are those who will occasionally take on a 10 Miler, There are even those who will do a full 16 week training plan in order to undertake the 26.2 miles of a Marathon……… then there’s Rob Wishart.
Just 7 days after completing her very first HM at The Great North Run, our very own Samantha Collier found herself at the start line of the Nike Run To The Beat Half Marathon in London flying the flag for Tyne Bridge Harriers.
Congratulations go out to Graham King who completed his 50th parkrun on Saturday morning in a time of 20:06. Graham was also 1st in his age category as he goes from strength to strength. For completing 50 parkruns, Graham will be
Well done to all of our 3 teams who made the journey down to Warrington today to compete in the Northern Athletics 6 & 4 Stage Road Relay Championships.
What a fantastic final race of the Series we had this evening. There were a few tired, battered & bruised legs tonight after Sunday’s Great North Run, but we still had 36 Tyne Bridge Harrier Athletes / Friends & Guests line up for the sharp 2 mile gut busting blast around Jesmond Dene.
It was another fantastic day for Tyne Bridge Harriers yesterday in the 31st BUPA Great North Run as 32 athletes were out representing the club. Another superb day of excitement, inspiration, hope, passion & determination. A massive 23 PB’s recorded on the 13.1 mile course
Well done to Andy Harrison & Alan Wallace who were at Newcastle parkrun this morning representing Tyne Bridge Harriers. There was a smaller than usual
