Training at Tyne Bridge Harriers wouldn’t be possible without our amazing Coaches and Leaders who plan and lead the sessions for all our juniors. We expect all our Coaches and Leaders to ensure their qualifications are kept up to date. Their role is to:
Plan a route.
- Considering the safety of planned routes.
- Considering how busy routes might be (i.e. congestion on Town Moor on match days).
- Knowing what the session is, as communicated by the Head Coach.
- Carrying a phone and having Event Directors number saved in case of emergency.
At the start of the session, the Coaches and Leaders will:
- Welcome all Juniors.
- Check in on welfare issues, such as illnesses and injuries.
- Check all Juniors are wearing appropriate clothing: high vis, gloves and hats in winter, kit related safety.
During the session, the Coaches and Leaders will:
- Lead a warm-up and technical drills.
- Make sure the juniors understand what the session is and why they are doing it.
- Ensure all juniors maintain contact during the session.
- Regroup after the session and have a post-session chat.
- Lead a cool down.
After the session, the Coaches and Leaders will:
- Lead a stretching routine if there is time.
- Ensure all juniors have been accounted for before they depart.
In the case of an accident/emergency, the Coaches and Leaders will:
- Follow England Athletics First Aid Training Guidance.
- Assess the situation, take primary action and seek assistance from the Event Director.
- Message Junior Leader’s WhatsApp for additional assistance.
