Tyne Bridge Harriers will do all in our power to look after and supervise all children whilst they are in our care – their health, safety and well-being is paramount.
This policy applies to any training session whether it is a Monday, Wednesday or Saturday session.
If a parent/carer is running late please endeavour to make contact to inform us of the situation or to provide alternative arrangements for the collection of your child. We will then be able to explain to your child why you are late and this can help to reassure them.
In the unlikely event that a parent is late collecting their child and no information has been received we will use all authorised contact telephone numbers from your registration form to arrange collection. These numbers are maintained on the England Athletics portal and can be accessed by the Event Director, Welfare Officer, Secretary or Membership Secretary.
The Event Director is responsible for Late Collection at each training session, if they are unable to perform this role then they will designate one of the other leaders or coaches. Best practice is for someone else to remain with this person until the situation is resolved.
If after one hour we have been unable to make contact with any of the named adults then we will be obliged to contact Newcastle Council’s Children’s Social Care Emergency team on 0191 278 7878.
For any instances where a parent is late by more than 15 minutes of the finish of a training session an incident report must be completed with the following information:
- Name of child
- Reason for delay in collection
- Name of Event Director or person responsible for enacting the Late Collection policy
- Name of additional adult who remained in attendance with Late Collection contact
Multiple occurrences of Late Collection will likely result in the cancellation of membership.
