The Monday night session is only for Juniors over the age of 12. It is usually an out-and-back run along the quayside led by a qualified leader, with a hill session thrown in from time to time for good measure. The goal of this session is to improve the endurance of the junior athletes. Attendance at this session must be discussed with the Head Coaches prior to first attendance.
We have outlined our expectations for Juniors and Coaches and Leaders.
Leaders and Parent Helpers for this session will be requested in the weekly email.
The Event Director: Paul Colver (or alternative Leader/Coach as necessary) will:
Prior to the session:
- Ensure at least one parent helper or LiRF is also available to attend.
- Consider adverse weather and communicate with parents via email and Facebook regarding:
- Appropriate attire.
- Cancellation.
Before the session:
- Ensure all juniors are signed in.
- Act as a first point of contact for any queries: direct to event director.
- Lead the drills
- Pair the juniors by ability so no juniors run alone.
During the session:
- Run out until fastest junior has passed on the return
After the session:
- Lead a stretching session.
- Ensure all juniors are signed out.
- Be responsible for ensuring all children leave:
- For late collection of juniors, please see late collection policy
- For Juniors who have left without signing out: contact parents to ensure junior safely collected and fill out an incident report.
