Another great turnout by TBH juniors, with some great efforts (especially from those new to XC) particularly considering the junior races got the worst of the weather today. The light drizzle turned a little heavier, being accompanied by a bit of wind bringing the temperature down just in time for the star of the U11 race. That didn’t really stop until the junior races were all over!!

The U11 boys were first up, with our only representative being Laurence Hattaway, who ran 8:44 for 1.5k in his first ever XC race.

Next up were the U11 girls with Chloe and Abigail Fraser also running their first ever XC race. Ruby Colver was first TBH across the line, in 30th position with a time of 7:18, Chloe Fraser was the next TBH home (49th place with a time of 8:12), followed closely by her sister Abigail (53rd with a time of 8:29) with Laura Whitman a few places behind (61st in a time of 8:44).

Next to run in the U17 Boys race was Finlay Dorman who managed a very credible 18th place finish in a time of 19:47 for the 4.7k small lap and large lap course.

Amelia Short was then our only representative in the U15 girls race, she came in 37th with a time of 15:41 for the 3.3k single large lap course.

The last junior races were the U13 ones (also over a 3.3k course), but the drizzle was still with us.

The U13 Boys didn’t manage to close a team, which was a shame after their second place finish last time, but both our representatives gave it everything with a great battle between them both at the end. Jake Moir was TBH’s first home in 48th place with a time of 15:52, with Zak Kettle (running from the fast pack) being given 49th place in a time of 14:12 with a 1:40 handicap, giving them exactly the same time.

Amber Maynard was first U13 girl in for TBH in 41st place with a time of 16:47, followed closely by Anna Dorman (running from the Fast pack) in 43rd place with a time of 15:12 (again with a 1:40 timed  handicap). Next came our 2 newbies Nina Hirt (62nd in 19:09) and Elsa Metcalfe (63rd in 19:14). This closed a team and the girls finished in 12th place.

Natasha Prescott should also receive a mention, as she hurt her knee in a bit of unexpected dip on the course, and had to drop out of the race.

Great efforts by everyone, so let’s have a good turnout for the next fixture at Gosforth Park on 27th October.
