Morpeth Harrier Ross Floyd takes the honour of winning the inaugural Bridges Of The Tyne 5 Mile Road Race on Newcastle Quayside in a time of 25:55. on a rainy evening 273 runners turned out to take part in this exciting new race on the North East calendar. Following another excellent & successful day at NEHL Wrekenton meeting on Saturday, we have another two fantastic race reports that have been sent in. First up Janine Swail describes her first experience of Cross Country Racing and the North East Harrier League for the ladies team.
With the advantage of a canny handicap, it was Tyne Bridge's very own Member of the Year, Rob Kirtley, who was first past the finishing line. Romping home in a time of 22m 26s (real time of 19m 46s), Rob was almost 3 minutes ahead of the second placed runner, Victoria Waugh.
Tyne Bridge Harriers had 8 athletes representing the club at Newcastle Town Moor on Saturday. Great conditions on the course as 274 runners lined up at the start. Congratulations to Caroline Clapp who recorded a brand new PB of 21:44 knocking 2 mins 44 seconds of her previous time.
On a chilly evening down by the River Tyne, a magnificent 37 members turned up to compete in the second race of this year's Winter Grand Prix Series. However, unlike the first contest which was a straight race, tonight's race brought the handicap system in use.
10 Club Athletes represented Tyne Bridge Harriers on Saturday morning on the Town Moor / Exhibition Park, for the 96th running of Newcastle parkrun. The course had been changed to accommodate safety measures due to the increasing number of runners that are taking part. The new route is considered to be faster too. 261 runners waited at the line for the 09:00 start.

We’d both ran this race in 2010 so knew what was in store but for some reason my recollection was of a much flatter course? We set off with race plans in hand, and pretty soon I realised we may struggle to stick to it. I remembered the first 3 miles were a bit up and down so had allowed for that, but was intending to make time up on mile 4.
It was another fantastic day for Tyne Bridge Harriers yesterday in the 31st BUPA Great North Run as 32 athletes were out representing the club. Another superb day of excitement, inspiration, hope, passion & determination. A massive 23 PB’s recorded on the 13.1 mile course
